What’s more dangerous than losing your healthcare, your job, or your rights? ⚠️ Losing your soul. This is about a moral collapse, not just a political one. -
Dr. Yamicia Connor

In these uncertain times, we all feel fear—fear for our future, for our families, for our financial security. But these are fears inherent to the human condition, fears we can name and attempt to navigate.

What I want to talk about is a fear we don’t mention enough. A fear that is deeper than economics, deeper than politics, deeper even than the collapse of institutions we once thought unshakable.

⚠️ The fear of losing one’s soul.

Because what does it mean to be so attached to worldly possessions, to power, to retribution, that you sever your spiritual connection to God entirely? What does it mean to trade away your integrity, your moral foundation, your very sense of right and wrong—not for righteousness, not for justice, but for the fleeting satisfaction of watching others suffer?

Yes, losing healthcare is devastating. Yes, facing measles outbreaks, economic downturns, and international crises is catastrophic. But what could be more catastrophic than the bone-deep loneliness that comes with realizing you have sold every principle you once claimed to hold dear—for what?

🔹 For a human man to bring vengeance upon those you hate?

🔹 For the promise that someone else—Black people, immigrants, the poor—will suffer more than you?

🔹 For elevating a man, deeply flawed and self-serving, to the level of a deity?

A Reckoning, but Not in the Way You Expected

I knew that God’s retribution would be swift and powerful, but I never imagined it would unfold like this.

And no—this is not a smug “I told you so.” What use is that when people are watching their livelihoods disappear, their communities unravel, their stability dissolve before their eyes?

But I do think it’s worth reflecting on this truth: Black women did not just vote in our own self-interest.

My family, like many others, will likely save tens of thousands of dollars under the policies white America overwhelmingly voted for. Many of us will experience financial relief in ways that you will not. And yet, we still voted for the well-being of our fellow human beings. Because we understood what was at stake.

We voted with the knowledge that no matter how much we may dislike certain groups of people, no matter how deeply we despise white supremacy, no matter how frustrated we are with the complacency of the white middle class, we do not hate anyone more than we love ourselves, our children, and our God.

That is the difference.

Even knowing that kindness would not be extended to us. Even knowing that Black people would continue to be blamed for everything from economic downturns to literal planes falling from the sky. Even as we watch Black professionals be purged from positions of power, scapegoated, erased.

We did not vote out of hate. We voted out of love.

And that is why I do not do this for you. I do this for myself. For my soul. Because no matter what happens in these coming days, weeks, and months, I can stand before my God knowing that despite every reason not to, I did my best to follow Christ’s teachings.

A Moral Crisis, Not a Political One

I do not say this as a spiritual leader. I rarely speak about my faith in public. But when it becomes so painfully clear that so many white Americans no longer connect morality to their political choices, I believe it is important for those of us who see this truth to say something.

Because if you cannot see what is happening, if you cannot recognize that the suffering you wished upon others has now come for you, if you cannot feel the emptiness creeping into your soul as you watch everything you built on the backs of others begin to crumble—then I fear it may be too late.

💼 You may not be able to save your job.

🏥 You may not be able to save your health insurance.

☢️ You may not even be able to save your life, as reckless leadership propels us toward what could very well be another world war.

🕊️ But there is something you can still fight for—your soul.

✝️ Because although you may not believe we are equal in this world, I know we are equal before God. And as your sister in Christ, I am deeply, deeply worried for you.

⚠️ I want to help you save yourself. ⚠️

Because in helping you, all of us will benefit. 💛

The question is—will you finally choose to listen? 👂🏾
